22 years ago, a few good men got together and started a small company in Northern West Virginia. While their dreams were big, they certainly could not have known what they had begun. Initiative, innovation, and focus on quality resulted in FCX Systems manufacturing the industry’s most robust, highly reliable solid state frequency converters for the military and commercial aviation ground power market. The U.S. Military became a major customer from the company’s beginning and remains a major customer today. Soon after FCX Systems designed their first 400 Hz solid state frequency converter, their military customers found the equipment well suited to the unique power requirements demanded by military missile radar systems, such as Hawk, Patriot, and Fire-Finder, and military aircraft, such as the Navy E2 Hawkeye and the USAF AWAC’s. This quickly expanded to marine shore power converters supplying power conversion from 50 Hz to 60 Hz for NATO military warships, 400 Hz converters for installation on U.S. Navy warships supply power for a variety of requirements, and other unique converters for special programs.

During the first 15 years, the company expanded its military global presence to include all 50 states and 70 foreign countries. This included the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, the National Guard, the State Department, various state police agencies, and even NASCAR. FCX become the “go to” company for weapons systems manufacturers and military systems developers looking for the engineering capability to develop and manufacture specialized power systems. Today, military planners and weapons systems development manufacturers recognize FCX as the most logical company for research and development of new GSE designs in support of modern aircraft, radar, and weapons systems. The most recent power systems resulting from FCX’s research and development work are the 270VDC power supplies for installation aboard U.S. Navy Nuclear Powered Aircraft Carriers, supplying power to the newest fighter aircraft in world aviation – the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Along with the 270VDC power supplies, FCX has developed the most efficient fighter aircraft pre-conditioned air unit. This air conditioning unit will keep avionics and pilots cool on almost every fighter jet made as well as UAV aircraft avionics.

During the past year, FCX Systems has undergone a significant financial and management restructuring, resulting in a stronger-than-ever new look FCX Systems. The immediate goals are to more efficiently build and sell product, deliver product on a timely basis to meet the customers’ needs, and to completely satisfy the customer in the field.

Today, FCX Systems continues to adapt to the unique requirements of its military customers around the globe. Research and development is focused on “going green” with the full line of frequency converters, DC power supplies, and pre-conditioned air systems.
