Since 1957, SRC, Inc. (formerly Syracuse Research Corporation) has aided the United States with keeping its people protected. In today’s climate, it is important to maintain defense efforts that are focused on the most viable threats, and SRC continues to provide that protection. As a not-for-profit research and development company, SRC’s charter is to use innovation and technology to find solutions to the nation’s most challenging problems. With the addition of SRCTec, the company’s manufacturing and logistics subsidiary, established in 2006, SRC now has the capability to further advance science and technology through quality high-tech manufacturing for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
SRC/SRCTec’s mission is to keep America safe and strong, protecting its people, environment and way of life. They have received two Army “Top 10 Greatest Inventions” awards for their Lightweight Counter-Mortar Radar and the Countermeasure Protection System, or CMPS – the predecessor to CREW Duke – a vehicle-mounted RCIED system. Their programs of national significance continue to gain positive exposure among their customers and their peers. Throughout the past five years, their earnings have more than quadrupled – in 2005, they reported $116 million in revenues and in 2009, $483 million.
Supporting a broad range of federal government organizations in the areas of defense, environment and intelligence, the companies fill a niche to provide technical assistance to numerous agencies. Through these relationships, the companies have developed a wide array of products and services ranging from advanced sensor systems, signal processing design, information technology development, environmental chemistry and risk assessment, chem-bio, and more. Recently, SRC has broadened its focus to Cyber CellTM, a comprehensive solution to network warfare situational awareness by providing cyber intelligence in near real time to meet the DoD’s need for increased detection and protection against these ever-present hazards. Moreover, SRC’s Advanced Technology Initiative program functions as a technology incubator and project focus on revolution new technologies, rather than evolutionary advances, to progress ideas into working solutions for their customers.
SRC recently constructed a new environmentally friendly headquarters in central New York. It also has offices in Colorado, Maine, Maryland, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia. Their Syracuse headquarters recently achieved a LEED® Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council and Green Building Certification Institute. Additionally, SRCTec is now ISO 14001-registered, which reduces operating costs through waste reduction, recycling and re-use of materials, and protects and preserves the environment. SRCTec’s manufacturing space is easily reconfigured to match specific program requirements and handle customer surge schedules while still providing optimal execution and efficient work flow. It has made significant investments in equipment needed to deliver high-quality products, including anechoic chambers used for precision testing and a roof-top test facility.
